Scientific and Economic Analysis of Genetically Modified Foods Forum | April 9, 2015
The Taiwan Association for Food Protection and the National Taiwan University Institute of Food Science and Technology organized a forum on April 9 in order to present scientific and economic perspectives regarding genetically modified (GM) foods. Professor Li-Yan Sheen of the Taiwan Association for Food Protection and the National Taiwan Institute of Food Science and Technology was pleased to host Distinguished Research Fellow at the Academia Sinica Institute of Biology Yu Su-May, and Professor of Plant Pathology Ye Xi-Dong of Chung Hsing University, Professor Pan Zi-Ming of the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Department of Biochemistry, as well as other domestic scholars and experts to discuss the health, safety, and economic impact of genetically modified foods. The group discussed a scientific and economic analysis of issues relating to genetically modified foods, as well as the potential impact of the implementation of a labeling system for genetically modified foods.
